St. Francis and St. Clare Friary,
Ridgeway, Enugu.

History:

This is the second friary of the Order in Nigeria. The presence was established following the December 23, 1988 letter from the then Bishop of Enugu diocese, Michael Eneja, granting the August 25, 1988 letter of request for the establishment of the order in Enugu.

At first the friars stayed in a rented house - 28 Boardman street Uwani, Enugu. In due time, the construction of a proper friary started. The transfer from Boardman house to the friary at Ridgeway Road Enugu was done on August 23, 1993. On October 4, 1993, on the occasion of the solemnity of our Seraphic Father St. Francis, there was the inauguration and opening of the new friary.

Initially, the friary served as a house for the students of both philosophy and theology, but since 1999, with the foundation of St. Pio friary Ibadan, it has been serving as the house for the students of theology. With the decision of the custody chapter of 2007, the house was also established as the locus for the custody curia.
